northeast is bracing for the worst of today's winter weather. more than a foot of snow is forecast in parts of new england and new york. it's expected to be the biggest storm of the season so far. most schools in new york, boston, and philadelphia are already closed for today. thousands of flights have been cancelled. we are monitoring the situation here

enforcement.. or ice. they were trying to stop her from being deported. the woman, guadalupe garcia de rayos, was arrested in 2009 for working with a false social security number. ice released a statement. it says the woman was detained based on a removal order issued by the justice department, which was made final in 20-13. and it says she has a prior felony conviction for criminal impersonation. garcia de rayos is among the first illegal immigrants targeted for deportation under president trump's strict new immigration rules. jeff sessions will be sworn in this morning as the country's 84th attorney general. the president and vice president will participate in the ceremony. sessions was narrowly confirmed wednesday after
confirmation battle. only one democrat, west virginia's joe manchin, crossed party lines to support sessions' nomination. no ruling yet on president trump's halted travel ban. a federal court heard arguments on the controversial order tuesday- but is not ready to rule. meanwhile - the president is now saying he wanted to give travelers a month's notice before instituting the ban, but claims he was overruled by law enforcement. we're on watch for the ruling around the clock - stay with abc-7 and wjla.com.
